IS MTG BECOMING MORE AFFORDABLE?

    In this day and age of  TCG's (trading card games) such as Magic, Pokemon, yugioh, vanguard, one piece, etc., there's handful of people who can barely afford one TCG as it is. I'll talk about magic the gathering since I have more than enough perspective of the game now. 

    Magic The Gathering (MTG for short) has been around for more 20 plus years as of 2026! The amount of sets and remakes some re-releases makes seem like there so much affordability. There's a yes and no on this particular sentence. Here's a Yes on this portion.

YES!

• There's so many releases of cards, that reprints are bound to happen. If there's reprints they become cheaper in the second market; for the most part.
• The reprints will come with amazing art and reworks of cards that allow for a more simple explanation of what each particular card does.
• The multiple releases and re-releases of older sets allow for both new and old players allowing them to obtain, collect and or play!

and... NO!

• Due to so many releases and re-releases everything is costing more to get due to said scalpers and poor running business that exploit workers. 
• The supply and demand of said releases makes more of chore to obtain due to high prices of either packs or box sets.
• If you the collection sets you want from newer releases (three years until now), you'd have to pay almost the same price as sets from 10 years or earlier... it doesn't make sense. 

Since MTG is becoming popular, there's going to be more folks interested in differents formats and table talk discussions. As of this year, there's been more people playing MTG and interested in said popular formats: Commander, Standard, and Modern. As a person who has been playing as of late... MTG NEEDS TO BE MORE AFFORDABLE! Also, Slow down on the RELEASES most of us can't keep up.

As the previous list shows, there so many release and re-release that are becoming a little bit more expensive due to SCAPLERS... I HATE SCAPLERS!!!! 

    Buying singles of cards is and will always be your best option however, make sure you do your research on the places you buy them from both online and local game stores LGS for short. If that's still to expensive, I recommend proxying your deck or cards you want to put into said deck. Proxying is more of the budget friendly versions of playing your decks or play-testing. You can always get 5 to 10 cent land cards, print out your deck, and use the lands as a placeholder.  

    There's websites such as https://edhrec.com/ for assisting new and old players alike on deck building.

    There's also the most recommended site for proxying. https://mtgprint.net/ is for printing out the paper versions of cards so you can print out the deck and play test it before you invest in purchasing said cards.
